A Bill of Materials is used to define the quantity of each raw material that is required to manufacture a finished product. In AccelGrid, a BoM also defines the routing and individual steps of the manufacturing process. You may choose to set up BoMs without routings if you wish to manage the manufacturing order in one step and do not want to track the individual steps of the manufacturing process.
If you haven't set up the finished products and components for the BoM, you can do so from the Manufacturing -> Master Data -> Products menu. However, it is also possible to create the finished product and the components for the BoM on-the-fly.
To create a BoM go to Manufacturing -> Products -> Bill Of Materials and click on the Create button. Choose the finished product from the Product dropdown field. Using the Add a Line link, add the components, and their respective quantities that are required to produce the specified Quantity of the finished product. Click on the Save button when done.
If you have product variants enabled, you can also set up specific BoMs for each variant using the Product variant field. Alternatively, you can use the Apply on variants field to specify which product variants a specific component is applicable for.
